And I love your 'just trying can be its own reward'. That's it exactly.

I was terrified of public speaking, too, Karyn. That's part of the reason I made myself take Speech courses in college, and once I got past the big fear, I made it my major. You've got the right idea - baby steps. Good luck with your group readings!B.E. As a writer I wanted to be able to promote myself by doing readings. I think part of it is recognizing which fears really do need conquering and how you can claim victory over them in a rational way. So, I read in public, along with other writers. Group readings terrifies me less. One step at a time. ...It is a great piece...thanks for pointing it out.

I try to pay attention to the things that make me uncomfortable. Instead of avoiding them, I'm making an effort to face them....of course that doesn't mean I'm always rewarded with success...but just trying can be its own reward.JB Lynnhttp://jblynn.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8378702741483615751.post-29573078392591450272013-01-31T07:10:57.771-06:002013-01-31T07:10:57.771-06:00Wow, inspiring post over there! I need to take that inspiration and run with it - today - yes!

Maybe!

Fear can sometimes be a crutch one uses to not face the world. Sometimes I use that crutch - sometimes that crutch is the only thing holding me up, giving me support. Sometimes, the fear is more comforting (the 'what you know') than the 'what ifs' of the world. Yep, change and the unknown are very scary things.Janethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13297537075103893956noreply@blogger.com
